Jet Set in an Island Bottle - The Ultimate Destination Fragrance Collection

Michael Kors Island fragrance collection keeps on expanding as he travels to more exotic islands in search to redefine and create wonderful fragrances evocative of tropical island living. This kind of island hopping never smelt so good!

I love the strikingly simple chunky chic square glass bottles and the wash of tropical colours within each edition is so unbelievably gorgeous.

This is modern island style, like Kelly Wearstler's rendition of the luxury resort in Anguilla, West Indies these fragrances capture the new coastal traveller who wants it stylish, evocative and luxe.

Michael Kors Island collection is jet-set style in a bottle with a real fragrance destination.

The turquoise glass bottle was inspired by the sparkling waters of the Caribbean. Michael has brought the island spirit to life in this amazing hued bottled and fragrance.
The fragrance is fresh and voluptuous, a succulent scent that combines lush florals with subtle fruit and woodsy accords. It contains dewy, sparkling top notes of Chinese kiwi, honeysuckle, and parrot tulip. Lush, vibrant heart notes of champaca flowers, ginger lilies, Bulgarian rose, and stephanotis. Woody, smooth base notes of white bark accord, driftwood, and rice fields accord.
This is the most beautiful shade of coral pink glass. Island Bermuda by Michael Kors was presented in 2008 and was created by two perfumers, Loc Dong and Jean-Marc Chaillan, who enriched it with floral waves of freesia, hibiscus, black currant buds and leaves, tiare, peony, orange blossom, peony, passionflower, woody accords of cedar and leather.

Amber colours evoke a Hawaiian sunset in this bottle. A luminous scent bursts open with a kaleidoscope of citrus sensations; exhilarating clementine and juicy orange fuse with luscious neroli. Accents of hydroponic pineapple add to the tropical bliss. Exquisite orange flower accentuated with luxurious jasmine sambac and exotic Hawaiian ginger lilies transport the soul to the island destination and is amplified by sexy white amber, creamy sandalwood and rich, flowing balsamic notes reminiscent of warm tanned skin.

Exhilarating. Luminous. Exquisite.

Island Fiji is a full floral fragrance drawing inspiration from the Fijian tiare flower. The richness of tropical petals combines with the lushness of Polynesian waters. The striking fuchsia glass bottle is just gorgeous typifying tropical femininity.
The classic Mediterranean deep blue of the Aegean has been captured in this bottle of Island Capri.  Sparkling, colorful, carefree. You have arrived at the true beauty utopia, a vision of crystal waters, cascading rocks, and lush green expanse. A ray of sunlight, a sublime outdoor freshness, the intoxicating scent of succulent flowers-breathe in the true Mediterranean experience. Island Capri is a bright sparkling floral that is irresistibly elegant.

Island Palm Beach, joins the Island collection as a fragrance that represents the retro glamour of the American destination. The fragrance is based on scents of pink grapefruit, sweet orange from Florida, jasmine, pink pepper, rum, black tea and vanilla.
The newest addition to the island collection Very Bali. Escape to Bali in a bottle, a getaway to the ultimate paradise filled with sexy sunsets that melt into ocean waves and lush green palms trees that sway in the cool breeze. Lose yourself in soft, sexy musk and a brilliant, textural fusion of earthy pamplewood and dry woods, inspired by the golden rays of the sun and the warm breeze off a sparkling ocean.

Michael has proved that fragrance really can transport you, so forget the travel agent this year and head to the perfume counter instead, were you can go island hopping in an instant courtesy of this gorgeous collection.

Wonder which island Michael's got in mind next?

Blooming Marvellous Monday Inspiration

Good morning my coastal island lovelies, it's another gorgeous summers day here in Queensland, Australia.

Lets start the week off with some beautiful tropical floral inspiration to help clear away any (winter) blues and replace them with some sheer joy and happiness to uplift your spirits.

Absolutely stunning colour.

Graphic and sculptural tropical bloom.

Like pretty maids all in a row, frangipani (plumeria) an iconic symbol of tropical summer.

Luscious tropical pink Bougainvillea, its paper like petals gently cascade over summer walls -
 I just love it.

Hibiscus are the fancy dressers of any tropical bloom, some reach the size of dinner plates, they shout tropical coastal summer with a glorious riot of colour.

The unusual and yet fascinating Passion flower. This striking little bloom adorns the Passion Fruit vines across Australia.

To be greeted with one of these from a stranger in paradise is such an honour, and that's how it is in the South Pacific. Polynesian hospitality is so endearing it's infectious and these beautiful leis of frangipani are wondrous Aloha gifts.

Finally, my new Hibiscus - Tradewinds Reggae Breeze, am currently debating the perfect spot for this little beauty to flourish.

Having a blooming lovely Monday and a gorgeous new week.

Pretty Birds all in a Row - Gorgeous Tropical Bird Antique Illustrations

I love antique botanics and bird illustrations. They are amazingly beautiful and fascinating to look at. This was how many a botanist or zoologist captured what they had observed on travels and expeditions.

Here are a few gorgeous Australian tropical birds illustrated by John Gould in the 19th century.

The Rosella is a beautiful tropical bird, we had 2 Crimson Rosella's in our garden in NSW, they were always happily greeted each day as they paraded up and down the fence together.

Apparently these lovely birds are now extinct in Australia, they were native to NSW.

This is a yellow Rosella, interesting because it looks like a cross between a Budgie and a Rosella.

Western Rosella's.

India Hicks bedroom with antique bird prints on the wall.

And now meet Cyril, isn't he sweet.
He's such a cute vintage inspired ceramic parrot - similar to the kind Catherine Martin used in the film Australia. Catherine loves Australiana and sparked a huge interest in Australian flora and fauna especially in its modern stylistic representations.

You can find the gorgeous Cyril at coastalhome.com.au

Flip Flop Friday

Relax, the weekends almost upon us and it's time to celebrate...

What a cool local.

This bar is awesome, rustic, relaxed - perfect for some Caribbean liming.

Tropical home bar - easy breezy beautiful.

These are such a good party idea and stylish too, from Alfresco Emporium.

Good ole Martha always inventive.
These tropical leaf coasters certainly do the trick for me.

Tommy Bahama muddler - perfect for cocktail hour.

A rendition of the quintessential tropical colonial home bar by David Flint Wood/India Hicks.

A Tommy Bahama cocktail recipe, delicious.

Cheers all to a great weekend.

British Colonial Celebrations

My heart skipped a beat when I saw these images. Beautifully shot with a quintessential British Colonial meets Out of Africa Safari styling.

Just gorgeous, I've never seen a wedding (I'm presuming it's a wedding) styled like this - I love it.

I can easily spot key elements in these images that David Flint Wood
& India Hicks have used in their homes in a bid to capture a bygone age and give their
homes a hint of a grand historical past.
Note the silver candle sticks, elevated vase using an old book (clever styling trick if you need some height to a vignette), the silver trophy with roses and an old British Union Jack flag.
It looks like the occasion is set in an old barn, this gives the look a casual and rustic feel.

Silver trophies, old books, an old wine decanter used as a vase with roses, these little
vignettes tell a story of upper class English society that is now by and large resided to country estates and period dramas.

Besides being English myself, what I love about these images is their heady romantic and
nostalgic feel. Homage to a bygone era, re-creating the past is a little bit like dressing up for
grown ups. Such fun, such indulgence and the beauty about dressing up in this format is, that you can create and enjoy these still life wonders until you fancy dipping in again to the interiors
dressing up box.

Have to say the old leather picnic case set is divine.

Grand, yet accessible. Not pretentious at all, I love this. Simple, elegant and a little quirky of course, we English do this so well, we are indeed the original design twisters.
Note the beautiful roses in tea pots - so cute.

I can easily imagine these beautiful elements being incorporated into any tropical colonial look. Easy props to pick up at vintage stores, here's a shot of The Kings Retreat that my old friend David Flint Wood has created in the Bahamas - note the similar elements and the trade mark large palm leaves - delightful.

Special Guest Post - Design Shuffle talks Coastal

Hello my island lovelies, hope you're relaxing with a good cup of coffee as we have an absolute special first from Oceania Island Living.

We're so extremely happy to introduce you to Design Shuffle and bring you this exclusive guest post all about Coastal Inspired Interiors.

Warmest island welcome to Design Shuffle...

Hi, I'm Susi, a writer for Design Shuffle, a wonderful online community of designers and design lovers from around the world. I'm lucky to be visiting Oceania Island Living today as a guest blogger; it's such a lovely blog. Inspired by the gorgeous coastal style of Oceania Island Living, I've picked eight of my favourite coastal rooms from around the world to share with you and your readers. I hope you enjoy them and discover lots of interesting decorating ideas! Thanks for letting me and Design Shuffle stop by to visit.

Coastal Interiors

Coastal design elements and artwork create a beautiful room that makes us long for a seaside vacation. Typical coastal colors are white, ocean blues, sandy neutrals, and sea glass green. Love the sophisticated coastal style of this room.

Coastal Interiors

This chic coastal bedroom has a bit of Hamptons style with the Chinese Chippendale style black headboards. The blue and white linens really pop against the black.

Coastal Interiors

Tropical style is all about natural materials and easy, breezy comfort. Love the woven chair and ottoman in this crisp space that has great tropical design.

Coastal Interiors

This galley kitchen has a coastal and nautical feel to it. The small footprint recalls a ship's galley and exterior lighting fixtures used indoors, often seen in coastal kitchen designs, also have a nautical feeling.

Coastal Interiors

With the white shutter style headboard and a mix of sea greens and blues, this bedroom exudes Southern coastal charm that recalls Hilton Head Island or the Outerbanks of North Carolina. Grasscloth on the wall is a perfect choice for this space.

Coastal Interiors

California modern coastal style is all about easy, casual living. Nods to the beach are subtle like the seaweed and coral inspired art; they don't dominate the space.

Coastal Interiors

British Colonial style is a popular coastal style that is inspired by the British West Indies. It's tropical and traditional combined into a beautiful coastal interior design style as seen in this bedroom design.

Coastal Interiors

Another British coastal style is more traditional and is based on the seaside resorts of England. With strong nautical influences, this coastal style has a lovely nostalgic feeling. Images [ 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8 ]

Tropical Luxe Furniture

I just have to introduce you to Sentosa Designs furniture, it is absolutely divine.

I first came across these pieces a few years ago and have just landed the best project to finally showcase them in, I can't wait.

Designed by Amanda Cameron, who after a successful career in modelling developed and designed the Sentosa private villas and spa in Bali back in 2003.

I think Amanda has absolutely captured the style & luxury of tropical resort design in these gorgeous pieces.

My favourites are the club chair and the fossilised wood stools.

Here's more.
